Serendipitree

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

People keep asking if our Christmas is going OK. Given the circumstances, it logically shouldn’t be. But…

Serendipitree

A serendipitous Christmas tree: I was buying my kids present from a couple who was moving out of state. They happened to be throwing away their Christmas tree. And my landlord gave us a string of lights. The kids had so much fun decorating this!

It’s the best Christmas yet.

Try as I might to express myself, there really aren’t words for how grateful we are for kind friends, neighbors, and family, and for the many little wonders we’ve experienced this season and all year. If you happen to be one of the many who have gone in with God on the miracles… thank you.

Wart Remedy that Actually Works

The kids and I were going through old pictures today when we ran across a picture of the worst wart ever. You’ll have to click “more” if you want to see it — don’t look if you’ve got a strong gag reflex. And actually it wasn’t the worst wart ever, now that I think of it. He had some on his feet that were bigger than a fifty cent piece. (Bah! And after all that I forgot to add a More link so it displayed the whole thing! d’oh!)

But anyway, the whole reason I’m posting this is because we’d forgotten how bad it was, and what a miracle it was we found a remedy that actually works. And since someone had asked the other day how we got rid of his warts, I figured I’d post the solution here. If you want it and don’t mind the gross picture, click ahead! (more…)

New Traditions

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

Weeks before Halloween, as I was tucking her into bed, Mary gushed, “I am SO excited for Christmas this year… we get to have TWO sets of traditions now!” Kids are so good at looking on the bright side! So over the past few weeks, we’ve been starting some new traditions. I thought I’d share two…

Validation

Loved this…

Sure, there’s a fine line between flattery and validation, but real validation does feel nice, doesn’t it?

Season’s Greetings

Friday, December 4th, 2009

OK, I’m not usually one to just post an affiliate link like this outright, but this is a steal I had to pass along. Greeting cards are on sale at my favorite print shop. 50% off means you get custom folded greeting cards for less than 50 cents a piece for a run of 10. They cost even less in larger quantities: 100 cards for $32 and 1000 for less than ten cents per card, which is really a great deal for businesses. And if you use this link, it helps us have a merrier Christmas too. So if you haven’t printed your cards yet, use this link to get 50% off greeting cards at OvernightPrints.com. Valid until 12/31/09.
