A Sparkling Home in 15 Minutes Flat

Monday, March 5th, 2007

As a work at home mom, time is worth MORE than money. And having the local Martha Stewarts approve of my style doesn’t mean much to me – though I kindof wish it did. So I was surprised this week to find the secret that’s been eluding me all along. (more…)

Fall? ALREADY?

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

Today I’m reminded of a snippet of a conversation I had with Conor, owner of Hands-On Web Hosting, the company I work with. In reference to how busy Conor was one week, I’d said something along the lines of, “And here I was thinking one could only burn a candle at two ends!” He replied, “Oh, no, there are plenty of ends to burn if you cut it into little pieces!”

Now I’ve got a full on bon-fire. :) (more…)

Happy Birthday Vincent..

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

Kudos to Google for pointing that out today with their logo. When I was a very small kid (maybe six or seven) I figured I would like to grow up to be either Dr. Seuss or Vincent Van Gogh. By the time I was eight I’d realized that wasn’t really possible, and learned of the difficulties he dealt with in this life. Being a bit on the nerdy / artistic / outcast / dramatic side of the things I felt like I could empathize with him. And I cried when my art teacher played the Don McLean song.

Now of course I realize my eight-year-old view of the world was a little skewed (and self centered), and really there’s very little I understood about his life. But it makes me wonder how many people around us today deserve a little more respect and compassion than they’re used to. Here’s hoping we can extend a little more of ourselves today.

Summer Dreams

Tuesday, June 8th, 2004

I feel obligated to change out the front page — the last topic was a little depressing, even with the “feel better” article I linked to at the bottom of the page.

Things are going well. Summer is here and it’s HOT. And there’s so much to do, so much I want to do. If I’m successful you’ll see more on that later, hopefully in the gallery section. I’m craving a little artistic expression.

Also I’ve re-added my resume to the left side of the page since I updated it again. Enjoy. :)

Opposition in all things…

Saturday, May 15th, 2004

This past month has been a busy blur; full to brimming with everything from good news to tragedy. It’s nice to finally get a moment to sit down and sort things out.

For the good news: someone I know well who was unemployed has found work — you know who you are! And my sister is getting engaged. I am so happy for her! The bad news (for me) is that she will probably move halfway across the country.

In other bad news, my niece was in the hospital for several weeks. In other good news, she is much better now.

The tragedy: a wreck that killed our cousin and his wife. We are all shocked… Please pray for their families and their little one…

All this, and time keeps moving forward at what seems to be an ever increasing rate.

I found myself wishing for a calmer life, and in response to that wish I ran into this article — it has comforted me a bit.
